Virgin Trains XC 47810 ‘Porterbrook’ leaves Didcot with the 14:18 1M14 Bournemouth to Manchester Picadilly on Saturday 27th October 2001. In the past this working would have been the return Pines Express but Virgin had ‘denamed’ the classic titled trains at the end of September 2001.
Today ‘810’ lives on as ‘Captain Sensible’ in the Cotswold fleet, named after the guitarist of the 1970’s punk band The Damned, Sensible also had a number one solo hit in 1982 with a cover of ‘Happy Talk’ from South Pacific.
